Meet Luke, Roxanne, Troy and Lainie!
In July of 2018 our Alaskan vacation together marked a special connection to the splendor and magnificence of the state we would soon know to be our dream destination. The setting where we would create a place to share with others and a place to enjoy for years to come. On our trip that canvased Alaskan destinations, we all felt an unparalleled attachment to Homer and Kachemak Bay. Perhaps it was the solitude, the fishing, the extremes of things like the tide, the fun town life atmosphere, or the one of a kind Homer Spit; we were hooked! Both couples hailing from northern Minnesota, our love of nature and wilderness along with fishing, hunting, hiking and everything water, we felt Alaska's calling.
Seven months later in February of 2019 the McLeod’s and Janke’s embarked on the purchase of our property in Bear Cove. We loved the remote features of the property that afforded a sense of solitude, calm and exploration that we were seeking. We were in awe of the abutting Kachemak Bay State Park nestled behind our property and the Dixon Glacier that would form the backdrop for Bear Cove. A plot of wooded land amongst the land’s bedrock, exposed an opportunity for us to build our retreat with amazing views of the water and mountains.
Pen to paper, draft to final drawings, our Bear Cove Retreat was designed and named. No strangers to building, over the next 4 years with the help of our friends and family from Minnesota (and plenty of fishing along the way), we have completed the Bear Cove Retreat build and are ready to host your group!
